A Beautiful Gift From Parker

Today was a good day. My husband showed me something so special and now dear to my heart. It was finally a beautiful warm day, the sun was out and the spring like weather was upon us. We were packing the car up with the kids and getting ready to leave to run some arranges, when my husband wanted to show me the tulips that we planted last fall. To my surprise, there was a beautiful tulip that had two buds on it. Two buds! With all the gardening I had done in the past, I've never seen this before. A flower with two buds on it. Wow. My heart just filled with warmth and happiness. I turned to my husband and said, "It's Parker. This has to be Parker visiting us." My husband agreed and we both smiled at each other. What a beautiful day it was knowing that Parker was here with us.

The next morning, before we got in the car to leave, I went to check on the tulips to see if they opened up. And yes to my surprise it had opened up! It was so beautiful. Two yellow buds. My heart just melted to know that this was the doing of Parker. Thank you my sweet boy for visiting us. We love and miss you so much.

FIRST MOMENTS

It was Sunday May 11, 2014 on Mother's Day, when I woke up and took a pregnancy test. This was my second one in two weeks, and I thought what better surprise would there be than to receive a positive test today? So I waited the 2-3 minutes to see the results, and to my surprise, I was pregnant! I was so excited. I got dressed and went downstairs where my husband was feeding our 13 month old Finley breakfast, and I handed him the test. He hugged and kissed me and I remember how happy he was.
With it being Mother's Day, we were headed to the Chicago Botanic Garden to have a family day. On the drive there, I remember being really happy and my mind started to race with all the new adventures to come. Now I had to juggle two children at a time, a toddler and a newborn, goodness how was I gonna do it? The day was spent walking around, looking at the flowers, having lunch, and ended with Finley splashing in the water fountains. It was a really fun family day overall.

The drive home was quiet, we were all tired and worn out from the heat. I remember being excited to start planning my new life adventures and what was to come next. Come Monday I needed to make the phone call to my OB/GYM. I was genuinely happy about the next chapter in my life. Things were good.

The Good Ole 1st Appointment Jitters

It was on a Monday afternoon when I had my first appointment scheduled to confirm my pregnancy.  June 9, 2014 to be exact. Boy was I nervous, but totally excited. At this point I was around 6 weeks pregnant and I knew that something was different about this pregnancy. I was so much sicker this time than I was with Finley. I was convinced that I was gonna be having a girl. People usually say that when your pregnancy is opposite of each other, then that means it's the opposite sex. So that's what I thought. Anyways, on the drive to the hospital, my husband and I were crazy excited. Our oldest and only son, Finley was such a good boy and easy that we couldn't wait to have another one.
We got to the hospital, checked in, they called my name and then there we were waiting to be seen by the doctor, Dr. K. We waited for sometime before Dr. K came into our room and believe me it felt like an eternity. At this point, I was built up with a lot of nervousness and anxiousness. Finally, Dr. K came in and after all the questions and positive urine test, it was time for the ultrasound. With the camera on my belly, she began to move it around to look for the baby, and there he was a tiny little thing. I remember just looking at his heartbeat the whole time. The little blinking dot on the screen. This appointment I will forever remember. Dr. K saw the heartbeat and says, "Look, there it is, the heartbeat!". And as she moved the ultrasound stick, it landed on a second heartbeat right next to the first one. Now when all of this is happening, my eyes stayed glued to the screen the whole time. And Dr. K says, "Wait a second" and she moves the stick back and forth along my stomach. "Do you see what I see?" she says to us. I honestly saw the two heartbeats and for some reason my brain couldn't comprehend what was on the screen. I reply with a simple "No." "There are two heartbeats, you guys are having twins!" she says. We were in complete shock and I couldn't stop saying "are you serious, there's no way!"
